If your seriuos about becoming an Architect this is what I recommend
Master Artisan - there are several items that only a Master Artisan makes that you will need Novice Merchant - 4/4/0/1 this skill tree setup gives you the option to place a merchant tent, two vendors (each management lvl gives you an additional vendor), reduced vendor and structure fees and the ability to register on the world map. Novice Tailor - As a Novice you have the ability to make synthetic schematic (which you will go through tons of with the master crafted furniture). Personally master crafted is the biggest seller of the furniture, if priced reasonably, I charge around 10 cpu.
but to be a master architect you only need engineering from artisan so that means novice artisan 15 pts engineering 14 pts master architect 63 pts total 92 pts
but I may recommend business 3 from artisan so you get a vendor and survey 4, as you wont be much good as an architect if you cant find good resource locations.
another suggestions is to master artisan as you need some things as an architect only master artisan can make.
Use the Character Builder, you'll find it in the contents menu to the right.
It'll tell you everything you need to know in order to plan your character's development. It gives you the number of skill points AND the XP required to get there, along with showing you exactly what profession combinations you can achieve.
You need a total of 96 points for Master Architech.
In order to train for Architech you have to get to Engineering IV, this takes 15+5+4+3+2 (29) + 6 for the Novice Architech (Total so far is 35).
In order to master Architech you need an additional 57, (14 per tree x 4 + 1 for Master) Master also required 620 Apprentice points which you get by training other players the skills you allready have. 20 for lvl 1, 30 for lvl 2, 30 lvl 3, 40 for lvl 4 and 50 for master Artisan, you get 50 for the elite level 1 skills. Since I haven't tought past level 1 in elite, not sure if the progressin continues so I won't assume.
You're probably talking about two different things. Training to be a Novice Architect is 5K, training to be a Master Architect is 10K. Both of you are right.
