Erollisi Day Returns to Norrath!

Lovers around the world rejoiced at the recent news of Erollisi Marr's reviviscence during the Goddess Risen event. To further celebrate the Goddess of Love and the Hunt, the Sisterhood of Erollisi, along with Aaronolis Swornlove, will be seeking assistance in New Halas throughout Erollisi Day. Dalron Pinot and his cheesy love lines makes a return while Diana Heartstrings and David Torchsong are hopeful that some adventurers will help them play matchmaker.

There are a couple of new quests available this year at the Cairn of the Huntress in New Halas. Players who haven't played matchmaker before should complete that task first before visiting Aaronolis and the Sisterhood of Erollisi. The Hearts a'Flutter contests in Antonica and the Commonlands have been revamped and a new grand prize has been added.

Creatures around Norrath will be dropping hard candies and love notes again, which can be used in crafting, consolidated into a single type or exchanged for event currency. Spend your Erollisi Coins at Steven and Douglas, who are found in East Freeport or Qeynos Harbor. Douglas offers 13 new merchant goodies this year which include Dungeon Maker spawners and activators. Steven's newest recipe scroll has 15 additional holiday themed items to craft.

Get in the mood of Erollisi Day this year with ZAM's YouTube playlists, featuring the songs that are the namesake of many of the Erollisi Day quests! We have compiled a full playlist of most possible (non-explicit) variations and a lite playlist that has only one variation of each song title.

Erollisi Day will begin at 12:01am PST on February 7th and end at 11:59pm PST on February 20th. Don't forget to keep your alts in order with our Erollisi Day Quest Tracker! Happy Erollisi Day!

Since childhood, Aaronolis and Annalisa Swornlove have been drawn to Erollisi Marr, the goddess of Love and the Hunt. After the death of Erollisi, the siblings were heartbroken. Annalisa took her loss especially hard and was unable to come to grips with her grief. Aaronolis fears that his sister is falling into the clutch of a darkness that will consume her.

Time is growing short to see the return of a goddess firsthand! Seek out Aaronolis near the Cairn of the Huntress in Frostfang Sea to begin an adventure that will affect a change in Norrath's pantheon during A Goddess Risen. This limited time event ends at 11:59pm PST on Monday, February 6, 2012.

Dave "Smokejumper" Georgeson, who is Executive Producer of the entire EverQuest franchise and has also been Producer of EverQuest II, announced today that Holly "Windstalker" Longsdale will be taking the EverQuest II Producer reins from him. She has been back on the team since December of 2011 and has been brought up-to-speed on the game over the past couple of months. From the EQ2Players article:

Hi there, Norrathians!

As many of you know, I’m the Executive Producer in charge of the entire EverQuest franchise, including EQ, EQII, and the upcoming (and very different) “EverQuest Next.” For the last two years, I’ve also been the Producer for your EverQuest II world, and it’s been absolutely a blast working with the team, the game, its features, and most of all, its players.

However, our company’s visions for the EQ Franchise are bigger in scope than what I can coordinate alone on EQII while also overseeing the rest of the franchise.

Therefore, we’ve brought Holly Longdale back to SOE to take over the Producer position for EQII. In fact, she’s been working with the EQII team since last December. (We delayed announcing her presence so she got a chance to come up to speed for a few weeks before needing to answer a thousand questions.) ;) But, the honeymoon is over and it’s time for her to “take the con.”

Dave "Smokejumper" Georgeson has announced that Critical Mitigation shall be removed from EQII itemization.  Here's the entire post from the official forums:

We’ve listened to all of your conversations since Critical Mitigation was originally introduced. The dev team has extensively debated about it internally. (Very extensively.) But ultimately, we decided that the right move for EQII is to remove Critical Mitigation entirely from the game.

Critical Mitigation initially seemed to do what it was designed for, but it has always suffered from a complete lack of intuitiveness for players, and it’s not a forward-extensible system. Ultimately, it doesn’t add any fun factor to the game.

So we’ve decided that a complete removal of it is by far the best solution for all concerned.

Here are the details:

  • Critical Mitigation (the stat) has been removed from the game.
  • Critical Mitigation no longer displays on the Character pane (for obvious reasons, since it’s no longer in the game).
  • NPCs no longer use Critical Bonus to add to critical damage.
  • Buffs and debuffs that have Critical Mitigation elements to them will have those elements replaced with other elements instead, so that those buffs/debuffs do not lose effectiveness.
  • Critical Mitigation values on adornments will be replaced with hit point values instead.

This change will be coming to Test soon and then to the regular servers soon thereafter.

NOTE: This change has no effect on PvP game play. The “PvP Critical Mitigation” stat is still useful for game balance in PvP play and is not being changed.

SOE is taking feedback on this change here on the official forums.

The City Festival Starts Tonight!
